The Shakedown

I feel like once you start camping in your camper it feels like you are in a secret wonderful world that not everyone knows about. I remember people that we knew with campers telling us about things that they found that were broken on their camper during their shake down. My first thought is what is a shakedown? The shakedown is the first overnight trip in a new rig. It can be in a fresh from the factory rig or a new to you rig. Our shakedown was at Pocahontas State Park. It was supposed to be a 2-day trip close to home (30 min away). We forgot a lighter for the fire, the toilet leaked, and we had thunder snow…I mean really? We have a storm that started as rain, moved to sleet, and turned into thunder snow. We left a day early because the weather was so intense. I was scared that we had made a huge mistake in buying Sheila…maybe this wasn’t for us.
